\n Mandate <\/h3>\n \t\t \t

The mandate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is derived from Chapter Six of the 1992 Constitution, dealing with the Directive Principles of State Policy, which provides in Article 40 that in dealings with other nations, the Government shall:\n
<\/br>\n

  • Promote and protect the interest of Ghana;<\/li>\n
  • Seek the establishment of a just and equitable international, economic, and social order;<\/li>\n
  • Promote respect for international law, treaty obligations, and the settlement of international disputes by peaceful means;<\/li>\n
  • Adhere to the principles enshrined in, or as the case may be, the aims and ideals of the following:<\/li>\n <\/ul>\n\n

    1. The Charter of the United Nations;<\/li>\n
    2. The new constitutive Act of the African Union;<\/li>\n
    3. The Commonwealth;<\/li>\n
    4. The treaty of the Economic Community of West African States;<\/li>\n
    5.
