  • Step 2: Issue a letter attesting and certifying the signatures of the Judicial Secretary or his two (2) Deputies    ( the authorised signatories of the Judicial Service of Ghana )

TRAVEL CERTIFICATGE

  • Step 1: Receive application letter
  • Step 2: Approval and completion of an application form with the applicant
  • Step 3: Issue an Emergency Travel Certificate
Requirements from Client
  • Submit an application letter indicating the reason for the Emergency travel certificate
  • Provide evidence of whereabouts of passport:
    • If lost – police report
    • Status of passport application (slip with transaction number)
    • If passport is deposited at an Embassy/High Commission/Consulate for visa, (evidence of slip/document as proof in that regard)
  • Submit a valid ID with two (2) passport-sized pictures
  • Make payment
  • In the case of children below the age of eighteen (18) years, in addition to the above, the application must be supported by a letter of consent, ID of both parents, and physical appearance of both parents

LAISSEZ PASSER

  • Step 1: Receive request letter for Laissez Passer
  • Step 2: Issue a Laissez Passer in English or the French language (where applicable)
Requirements from Client
  • Submit a request letter indicating:
    • Purpose of travel and destination
    • Number of people travelling with names and IDs
    • Vehicle registration number and name of driver(s)
  • In the case of children below the age of eighteen (18) years, the application must be supported by a letter of consent and ID of both parents

DUAL CITIZENSHIP CERTIFICATE AND IDENTITY CARD

Timeframe Two (2) to six (6) months upon receipt of application
Processes and Procedure
  • Step 1: Forward applications from Missions Abroad to the Ministry of the Interior for processing
  • Step 2: Forward certificates and identity cards to Missions Abroad for onward transmission to the applicant
Requirements from Client
  • Duly Completed Dual Citizenship Form 10
  • Application for Registration as a Dual Citizen addressed to the Minister for the Interior
  • Copies of Bio-Data page of both Ghanaian and foreign passports
  • Four (4) recent passport-sized photographs
  • Copy of naturalisation certificate from foreign country (where applicable).
  • Evidence of payment
  • In the case of children, in addition to the above requirements, the application must include a copy of birth certificate and copies of Ghanaian parent’s passport
  • All applications must be endorsed by the Consular Officer at the Ghana Mission (Applications with alterations or white-outs would not be processed by the Ministry of the Interior)

RENUNCIATION OF GHANAIAN CITIZENSHIP

Timeframe One (1) to three (3) months upon receipt of application
Processes and Procedure
  • Step 1: Forward Applications from Ghana Missions Abroad to the Ministry of the Interior for processing.
  • Step 2: Forward the renunciation certificate to Missions Abroad for onward transmission to the applicant
Requirements from Client
  • An application for Renunciation of Citizenship must include:
    • Application Letter addressed to the Minister for the Interior
    • Duly Completed Renunciation Form 13
    • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
    • Two (2) passport-sized photographs
    • Copy of Ghanaian passport (bio-data page)
    • Assurance Letter from the country where the applicant is acquiring citizenship
    • Evidence of payment
  • Note: Applications with alterations or white-outs would not be processed by the Ministry of the Interior
  • Upon processing of the Application by the Ministry of the Interior, the applicant would be required to surrender the Ghanaian passport before the Renunciation Certificate would be handed over to the applicant

TRAVEL ADVISORY

Processes and Procedure
  • Step 1: The Ministry, in consultation with Ghana Missions Abroad, issues travel advisories about the security situation in countries and the need to exercise caution, based on current developments The purpose of travel advisories is to help travelers make informed decisions on travel destinations
  • Step 2: Travel advisories may relate to issues such as security matters, extreme weather patterns, civil unrest, or outbreaks of diseases

EVACUATION ASSISTANCE OR CONSULAR SERVICE TO DISTRESS STRANDED GHANAIANS

Timeframe As and when it becomes necessary
Processes and Procedure
  • Humanitarian evacuation arises as a result of an outbreak of armed hostilities, political upheavals, or civil uprising in countries abroad for the protection of Ghanaian citizens
  • The Ministry, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders and Ghana Missions abroad, undertakes humanitarian evacuation and also provides post-evacuation assistance such as placement and counselling
Requirements from Client Ghanaians who visit, work, or relocate to other countries are always encouraged to register with Ghana Embassies or Consulates to enable authorities to get easy access to them in emergency situations
